Haven Funeral Services Limited has been owned and operated by Bryce & Carla Mounsey since 2004.

She proudly worked for Brian Tinney Motors in Huntly for 3 years and then went on to work in customer service in Hamilton and then for a time in Melbourne.
On returning to Huntly she was offered the opportunity to work for Bryce at Haven, which she has done for more than ten years and is a Funeral Director, Embalmer and assists with memorials.
Her caring nature and customer service skills are at the forefront of her mind with everyone she meets.

“I feel extremely blessed to be working in this industry and to assist and guide families through extremely difficult times”.
I come from a long career in emergency services for a long time. My husband and I have a large family with grandchildren popping out fast.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my daughter and her horse and grounding myself in what is really important in life.
I am passionate about equality and inclusion and the things that matter and feel privileged to be a part of this great team.
My husband Robert and I farm in the Waerenga District, a community we enjoy, having lived there our entire lives. We have four grown children, with family being my greatest love.
I joined the Haven team in February of 2023 as an Office Administrator, which I relish, being able to assist our funeral directors to offer the best service when family’s need them.
Carla has been quietly in the background of the business since purchasing it in 2004. The opportunity arose for her to participate more actively and has returned to assist with reception and front office duties, and even lends a hand with catering when required.
When not at Haven, she enjoys gardening when the weather permits.

Our journey began in 2012, when we rescued a vintage hearse from a dusty farm shed in Taupiri, New Zealand.
Originally built in 1936, it had a fascinating history, serving for decades before landing in our hands.
Follow along as we breathe new life into this classic vehicle.
We’ll delve into its past, witness the intricate restoration process, and celebrate the dedicated individuals who are making it all possible.
Buckle up, as we bring a piece of automotive history back to its former glory!
A long time passion for collecting diecast models extended to collecting hearses as a result of Bryce starting a career in funeral directing in his hometown of Huntly, firstly with Dean Funeral Services and then purchasing the business in 2004, changing the name to Haven Funeral Services.
This impressive collection was started when Bryce and Carla bought the business and now numbers in excess of 100 models of all shapes and sizes. The scale models range from tiny HO scale through to an impressive 1/10th scale hand built horse drawn funeral coach. The collection includes hearses from 1904 through to the recent times.
All the popular makes are represented like Cadillac, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Mercedes, Ford, Packard and the list goes on. Many of them are quite collectable and it is getting increasingly more difficult to source new additions to join the fleet.
